Summer Ride
A short, but sweet ride through three of the Sierra passes. Day one we rode along Hwy 4 through Ebbet’s Pass with a stop by Mesquito Lake, which was still surrounded by snow on June 30! We overnighted in Markleeville. soaked in the Grover State Park hot springs and stayed at the J. Marklee Toll Station Motel. Breakfast at their café was great!
Day two, took us across Monitor Pass, then down through Hwy 108 and Sonora Pass. Sonora Pass is the oldest of the Trans-Sierra Emigrant trails and was opened as a toll road in 1865. At nearly 10,000 feet it offers an amazing vista of the Sierras.
